Categorizing transactions

Sort synced bank transactions into spend categories, by hand or with AI.

The Transactions panel on the Finance page lists everything synced from your bank, newest first, with a category chip on each row.

Categorize by hand. Click the chip and pick a category. When other uncategorized transactions share the same merchant, they are categorized in the same step, so one click usually clears a whole subscription's history.

Categorize with AI. The Auto-categorize button sends your uncategorized transactions to the assistant, which reads merchant names and amounts and fills in the best-fit categories. Rows the AI is unsure about stay uncategorized for you to decide.

Where it shows up. Spend by category appears next to the transaction list for the last 90 days, and the uncategorized counter tells you what still needs attention. Manage the category list itself right in the panel: add ones that match your business, remove ones you never use.

Rules without a rule builder. Your choices become the rules: every future bank sync gives new transactions the category you most recently gave that merchant, automatically. And an inflow filed into an expense category (a refund, card cashback) nets against that category's spend instead of counting as income.

Pending transactions. Charges that are still in flight at your bank show a pending badge next to the merchant. They count toward burn and can be categorized right away, and the row updates in place once the bank settles it.

Category direction. Each category is an expense, Revenue, or One-time income (pick when creating one, shown as a badge in Manage categories). Revenue counts toward net runway. One-time income counts as money in but never flatters runway. Money into an expense category, like a refund or card cashback, nets against that category's spend.
