Bank sync and spend

Connecting a bank, syncing, and what each sync recalculates.

Finance reads your bank in one direction only. Zetadeck never holds your banking credentials and can never move money.

Connecting

Settings, then Integrations. Mercury and Plaid are both supported. Connecting gives read-only access to balances and transactions.

Important

If your bank cannot be reached by either provider, which is common for university and some business accounts, use Importing transactions from CSV instead. It delivers the same live runway figure.

Syncing

Sync bank on the Finance page pulls the latest balances and transactions immediately. Each sync writes a snapshot, which is what the runway forecast is drawn from.

The Cash card always states when it last synced. Runway is only as current as that timestamp, so a figure sitting next to "synced 4d ago" is four days old.

What a sync recalculates

  • Balances and the available cash figure, after pending charges.
  • Your observed monthly inflow and outflow, excluding internal transfers and anything marked as a one-off.
  • Categories for new transactions, from the choices you have already made for that merchant.
  • Commitment links, for payments matching a link you made by hand.
Note

Marking a one-off, linking a payment or archiving a commitment recalculates burn straight away. You do not need to sync for those to take effect.
